Humble Pie's "I'll Find You" - really "To Ramona"!?

Recently I was surprised to hear Steve Marriott (of Small Faces/Humble Pie fame) singing "To Ramona". Apparently it's track 17 on the Humble Pie album "The Scrubbers Sessions" where it's entitled "I'll Find You". I say "apparently" as I don't own the album, and the source where I heard it is not always reliable.

So I did some digging around and found . . . nothing. So I started a thread asking about it on a forum where I'm a regular. I learned that All Music Guide lists the composers of "I'll Find You" as Hinkley, Marriott, Ridley
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:abfoxqthldje

Also, Amazon, AMG as well as other reputable sites list "I'll Find You" as track 17 with a length of 3:27 - which is about the right length for the version of "To Ramona" I heard. There's a sound clip at:

I also signed up to Yahoo's Humble Pie mailing group and asked about "I'll Find You" and Marriott singing Dylan there, having discovered he'd also done "The Times They Are A-Changin'". Here's part of a reply I got:

Great question – I was just going to mention the Times they are a Changin’ – but I see you cover it at the end of your e-mail………that one is a corker !! a classic!

I don’t know much about “ill Find You”

Here’s what I do know…..yes it is Dylan’s Ramona / To Ramona that they cover on Scrubbers…..it was recorded for his intended solo album “lend us a Quid”

I have a bunch of Steve’s old notepads from around this time with hand written lyrics, running order for Lend us a Quid etc and there’s not much mention

He does though have a self penned lovely little song called “I’ll Find Loretta in the end”……..conjecture by me – but that may well be “I’ll Find You”

And that's about all I know so far. It seems that Marriott/Pie covered the song, and it's track 17 on "The Scrubbers Sessions", but for some reason it's called "I'll Find You". It seems quite likely that it got accidentally mis-labelled somewhere along the line.

So: does anyone here know anything about it?

Steve Marriott had a great voice and "To Ramona" is a beautiful song, so it's worth checking out anyway.

I wasn't aware of this cover, but you're right....just listened to a clip and it is To Ramona.
Why it's called I'll Find You is beyond me....probably a mix-up by the record company.

I guess the evidence is good enough that I'll have to add it to the DataBase, although the question remains if To Ramona is on all versions of the CD (original release in 1997, re-issued with different artwork in 2002,) both versions list "I'll Find You" as the title.

Since it was recorded for a Marriott solo album, I'll list it under Steve Marriott.

My guess would be a song titled "I'll Find You" was intended for the CD but a master of To Ramona was used by mistake.
I would doubt it was an intentional re-title of To Ramona.

Note: Marriott's Times... appears on the Clear Through The Night CD, recorded 1976.
